The Apalachicola River basin is renowned as one of the most ecologically diverse natural areas in the Southeastern United States. Six rivers from Georgia and Alabama come to a confluence in the Apalachicola Bay. It is quite remarkable. There is a huge amount of diverse trees and fauna, not to mention the abundant wild life that is home to this area. This creates a very special environment for Oysters and this area has some of the most delicious and succulent oysters I have ever had.
Discover the Apalachicola River’s unique and vibrant backwater wilderness. Your experienced Master Captain will take you deep into the pristine beauty of the largest food producing estuary in the Northern Hemisphere. With speeds up to 40 MPH, this Airboat ride is quite exciting. It takes you up the estuaries in the Apalach basin and you will see alligators,Manatee’s and so many birds that you will freak. I have not had the opportunity to ride on one of these but my best friend has with his 20 something son, and they were ecstatic about the journey. I am dying to go. This is one of the best ways to really get out there and see for yourself what this special, special area has to offer. Watch out for the snakes hanging from the trees! (Just Kidding!) Combines both fun and education for the whole Family. 1 Hour, 2 hour and 3 hours tours are available. This is a great activity for a cloudy , overcast cat day, or a cold day in winter. These folks know the area like the back of their hand, and they know all the secret little rivers that feed into the Apalachicola River. The TEENS would love this expedition! I have a link for their website and they have a video to show you the excitement. I definitely got to do this adventure in 2015. http://www.apalachicolaairboatadventures.com/index.html Go check out these folks and tell them , Peter, at Burns Management Beach Vacation Rentals(www.two-palms.com) sent you!!! You won’t be sorry that you gave them a shot.
